The Grand Rapids Crew Juniors proudly announce the 3rd annual Grand Rapids Crew Cup, August 26-28th 2011. Teams will compete from all across the region and Canada for the prestigious Crew Cup. Our main facility is the state-of-the-art MVP Fieldhouse and additional sites will be all within 15 mins of our central location, with Hotels all located near MVP. The other main site is Riverfront Park in Lowell Township which boasts 8 grass fields in great condition. Only local teams will play Friday night games. This tournament provides an excellent pre-State Cup and pre-season event with quality competition and venues and stress free check-in at MVP. All coaches will be accommodated to avoid game conflicts. The tournament is sanctioned by MSYSA and US Soccer. Experience the great atmosphere of downtown Grand Rapids and we are close to the West Michigan Beaches if you have time between games. In our first year we hosted 125 teams from all of the state and beyond, this figure rose to 175 in 2010! Due to the succes of these tournaments and also our Crew Spring Classic's in April, we have had a lot of early club interest in this years event. We expect to attract over 200 teams and make this tournament even better! The Showcase segment we ran last year for the U15-U18G was a huge success. We had very good competition and lots of representation from many Midwest college coaches. All top level showcase games are played at the same location which give the coaches an excellent opportunity to scout multiple players. Look forward to seeing you in Grand Rapids this Summer! Marc Frankland Tournament Director Team Selection Team acceptance to the Crew Cup will be completed by the "Selection Committee". Notifications are sent to all teams. The selection process is assisted by the information provided to the tournament on your application- example - team records, level of play, out of town/state vs local teams (to achieve a balance), performance in post-season tournaments including the "Crew Cup", etc. It is important to provide as much information as possible to assist the committee in properly evaluating your team. Cashing of the entry fee does not indicate acceptance to the tournament. Accomodations The 2010 Crew Cup has teamed up with its official housing service, Traveling Teams, to bring your team the utmost service for its housing needs. This will help make the process of reserving rooms easier and more reliable. If you wish to pariticpate in the 2010 Crew Cup, you must use one of the hotels provided by Traveling Teams.
